January was a lazy month and I did not reach my goals. I did not add too much of a new content and I will have to speed my effort to keep on the track to reach my goals by December (you know it, you have always time to reach the defined goals for the whole year).

But, I did not miss all the goals for the January. The traffic is growing, not dramatically, but it is growing and the final goal can be reached, when I will work with the HR keywords smartly.

Some HR Keywords start to deliver the significant traffic:

• HR Strategy
• HR Administrative Expert
• HR Business Partnering
• David Ulrich

The goals for February should stay relaxed as one missing month will mean a decrease in the traffic growth, if there is not generally extremely successful page, which will attract a lot of search results.

The goals for February are:

1. Finish the description of the HR Model by David Ulrich
2. Send first HR Newsletter (the goal was achieved in January)
3. Increase the number of pictures and graphs on the site

Let’s see how it goes.

The first month of the Free HR Guide is finished. It was December and the last month of the year is always special. The people are not interested in Human Resources and we celebrate the Christmas.

Nevertheless, for Free HR Guide it was a good month. The main accomplishments and observations:

1. Google gave me PageRank 2 after one month. This is amazing, but it will take long time to change it from 2 to 3.
2. The Bing search engine is extremely lazy. Google and Yahoo indexed my site, but Bing is still waiting in the queue.
3. The average daily number of the unique visitor is 9, which is not that bad for a completely new site, I think.

The goals for January:

1. Finish the part about 4 major HR roles
2. Describe David Ulrich’s HR Model
3. Get 5 email subscriptions

Quite luckily, HR sites are not good in SEO generally. It is not that hard to score high for several keyword if it is not a job, resume or something bringing high volumes.

It is almost end of the year and new goals should be set for the year 2010. As the economy should recover, the goals should be optimistic and heading us again to the nice future.

The Free HR Guide is an activity for a free time and it has to be taken so, but I should give goals myself as I can do a final evaluation after one year. Ok, it is not exactly one year, but 13 months.

The Goals have to be smart (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely). That’s the theory. I will try to follow this recommendation and here is my set of goals for the Free HR Guide:

1. The average number of unique visitor will reach 1 800 visitors/day.
2. The average number of pageviews per visitor will reach 2,45.

Why these numbers? As the goals should be realistic and there is a potential for the growth. And it can motivate me to reach such numbers.
